An exploratory study to assess the attitude of female patients towards male health care professionals posted in obstetric department from selected hospitals of Daund

Introduction: A career in obstetrics and gynaecology (OB/GYN) is stressful and very demanding. It is associated with a significant amount of physical and psychological exhaustion. OB/GYN residents have the highest prevalence of stress and burnout compared to residents in other medical specialties. Several studies analyzed stress levels and symptoms among residents in different medical specialties including OB/GYN.
Methodology: This study used a quantitative pre-experimental design to assess female patients' attitudes towards male healthcare professionals in obstetrics at selected hospitals in Daund. A non- probability convenience sampling technique was used, with data collected through a socio- demographic questionnaire and a self-structured attitude scale. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The collected data was organized and tabulated by using descriptive statistics, i.e. frequency, percentage, mean and SD. The inferential statistics i.e., paired t test was used to assess the attitude of female patients towards male health care professionals posted in obstetric department from selected hospitals of Daund and chi-square test was used to find the association between pre-test knowledge score with their selected demographic variables.
Results: The present study shows that to the level of Attitude regarding of female patients towards male health care professionals posted in obstetric department from selected hospitals of Daund. 71% were having Positive attitude and 29% were having Negative attitude. The overall mean is 38.09 with SD+-6.32.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the majority of female patients in Daund hospitals showed a positive attitude towards male healthcare professionals in the obstetric department.
